Lake Elsinore Lupine Wildflowers

The California wildflower “Superbloom” is still on and the Mister and I went on an adventure to find some more beautiful wildflowers on Tuesday! We already visited the Antelope Valley Poppy Fields, so I didn’t bother visiting the poppies in Lake Elsinore, but instead went on a hunt for these gorgeous, purple, lakeside, lupines! Lake Elsinore Lupine Wildflowers // Salty Canary How did I know about them? Instagram! Of course. Which calls into question this interesting article from Outside Magazine on whether Instagram is ruining the great outdoors? Some of the flowers had been trampled and it was hard to tell if it was due to too many people or maybe even a boat or fishermen. But the trampling definitely made me think about that article.

I try my best to only take photos that I deem safe, meaning I hardly EVER take a photo while standing in the middle of the road, (unless I’m in the middle of nowhere in Texas), I don’t trespass on others property (ok, we are trespassing here, but it wasn’t someone’s house. I never get too close to someone’s personal space), and I don’t like to ruin things like trampling flowers, picking flowers, taking art, etc.

Again, the internet was super useful and Yelp recommended lunch at Main Street Kitchen and Tap. The mister had an ahi tuna salad and I had the burger – both were delicious and the waitstaff was super attentive and polite. I would definitely recommend it! We also walked down Main Street and popped into a few of the antique stores and checked out this amazing vintage bathhouse building with it’s gorgeous, candy-colored, striped roof!

We also drove up the hill a bit to see the yellow flowers in the canyon. The view of the lake was amazing, there were some amazing, old mansions on the hill, and the flowers, of course, were abundant and stunning! Lake Elsinore Lupine Wildflowers // Salty Canary Lake Elsinore Lupine Wildflowers // Salty Canary Lake Elsinore Lupine Wildflowers // Salty Canary

To get to the lupines, try parking somewhere around Lakeshore Dr. near Benedict Ave. There’s a lot of no parking signs near there, so be on the lookout. To get above the lake for the gorgeous lake view, try driving along Ryan Ave in Lake Elsinore.
