Highlighter Easter Eggs

How cute are these Highlighter Easter Eggs? If you don’t have a colorful dye kit but still want to decorate some last-minute eggs for Easter, then simply raid your office supplies drawer for some highlighters and markers for a quick and easy way to add some color to your eggs! Highlighter Easter Eggs // Salty Canary

You don’t need any artistic skills to decorate these eggs! I promise! These are so easy! You can add stripes, abstract art, swirly loops, sprinkles, dots, or silly faces! Plus, they are great as a last-minute Easter Egg decorating idea!

Obviously, first, you need to hard boil the eggs.

Just in case you’ve never done that before, it’s quite simple: add eggs to a large pot, add enough water to cover the eggs with 1 inch of water, bring pot to a fast boil, then once it’s boiling for 30 seconds, turn off the heat and let the eggs sit in the pot for 12 minutes before removing the eggs and dunking them in ice water.

If you hard boil your eggs and decide to store them in the fridge before you’re ready to decorate them, then just be sure to remove them from the fridge for at least 2-3 hours before you decorate them in order to allow for condensation which you can then wipe off. If not, you might get a watercolor effect which is fun when using the highlighters, but … not so much with the markers.

Highlighter Easter Eggs // Salty Canary Which one is your favorite? I sorta like the little face. She just seems really sweet. But I also love the abstract art with all three colors and the marker dots!

Will you make these Highlighter Easter Eggs? Let me know in a comment if you do!

I would be concerned about toxicity unless you used kid safe edible markers.
