4th of July Cocktail Table

What are doing for the holiday weekend? Are you going out of town? Hosting a BBQ? Going to a BBQ? If you’re staying home and having friends and family over for a get-together, I’ve got a 4th of July Cocktail Table that will be great to for this weekend! With fresh summer fruits and herbs, the cocktails are all refreshing and delicious! Throw a party with spiked cocktails for this summer's holiday! Oh! And vodka! They are all spiked with vodka!

Funny story: I woke up with a stuffy nose a few days ago and I wondered if maybe it was because I had had a glass of wine before bed. The husband nervously asked me, “What if you’re allergic to wine? What will you do?” and I quickly and calmly replied, “Oh, I’ll just drink vodka!” Problem solved.

But let’s get back to this party. I set up my cocktail table with a pre-made Spiked Watermelon Limeade in a drink dispenser along with two “craft your own cocktail” stations with written out recipes for a Spiked Cherry Limeade and a Spiked Southern Peach Tea.

Let’s start with the Spiked Watermelon Limeade. I like to make sure there is one pre-mixed and ready drink for guests who don’t want the hassle of making their own. Living in Los Angeles, sometimes you arrive at a party and traffic was so unbearable that all you can say is, “Hello! I need a drink in my hand RIGHT NOW before I can be human and converse with others.” And that is where this Spiked Watermelon Limeade comes in. Made with freshly juiced watermelon and limes, it’s spiked and ready to calm those post-traffic nerves.

Next up? A Spiked Cherry Limeade. You know it’s summertime when cherries hit the shelves at the grocery store. And somehow I always seem to miss it. But not this year! This year, I’m serving Spiked Cherry Limeades with fresh cherries.

I set up the “craft your own” Spiked Cherry Limeade station with lemon lime soda, black cherry juice, fresh cherries, and limes. Oh, and my fun star-shaped cherry juice ice cubes (because Memorial Day!) was mistakenly forgotten in the freezer. That’s what happens when you start taste-testing the recipes … you forget the fun-shaped ice in the freezer. Oh well, there’s always the 4th of July!

Here’s the recipe in case you didn’t want to read it off my hand-lettered sign:

Spiked Cherry Limeade

Spiked Cherry Limeade
Ingredients
  • 2 oz SVEDKA vodka
  • 4 oz lemon lime soda
  • 1 oz cherry juice
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • garnish with cherries and a wedge of lime
Instructions
  1. Fill your glass with ice.
  2. Next, pour your shots of vodka, lemon lime soda, cherry juice, and lime juice and stir.
  3. Top off your drink with fresh cherries and a lime wedge.
  4. Stick in a straw and enjoy!

This might be my favorite new drink. It’s like a fancy, adult Shirley Temple, but with a tasty cherry and not the gross cherries from the jar.

And last, but certainly not least is the Spiked Southern Peach Tea. I was addicted to the non-spiked version of this drink last summer. I kept asking my husband to pick up lemonade and fresh peaches at the grocery store on his way home so I could make a couple glasses to cool us down on those warm August nights. But this year? I’m spiking it!

I set up this “craft your own” Spiked Southern Peach Tea with peach iced tea, lemonade, freshly sliced peaches, and mint. And I’m not going to lie, if I was to set this up again, I would use pink lemonade or strawberry lemonade – when it blends with the peach tea, it is heavenly!
