I’ve really wanted to go apple picking, but it’s been so hot here in Los Angeles that it just hasn’t happened. So I did the next best thing. I made Apple Cider Donuts with a Salted Caramel Glaze. The glaze is not the easiest to make. It is SO easy to burn caramel. I recommend either using a caramel sauce or melting down some caramel bits and adding some sea salt to it.
But in case you want to make it yourself, here’s the recipe:

Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 350 F

- Pour ¼ cup of batter into each of your greased donut pan wells.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until done.
- While the donuts are baking, prepare your salted caramel glaze.
- Over medium heat, combine your two sugars with your water in a saucepan.
- Allow the sugar to caramelize by boiling it for 8-10 minutes.
- Remove the caramelized sugar from the heat, add your cream and stir.
- Once it has stopped bubbling, add your butter and stir.
- Then add half your sea salt and stir.
- Once your donuts are finished baking, allow them to cool, then top with the salted caramel glaze and garnish with an extra sprinkling of sea salt.
