Apple Cider Donuts w. Salted Caramel Glaze
Ingredients
  • Apple Cider Donuts:
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 4 Tbsp apple cider
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 1¾ plus 2 Tbsp flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • Salted Caramel Glaze:
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp sea salt, divided
Instructions
  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350 F
  2. Then sift together the dry ingredients of your apple cider donuts and add them to your mixer.
  3. Next, add your eggs and mix on low.
  4. Then add your oil, apple cider, and applesauce and mix for low until thoroughly combined.
  5. Pour ¼ cup of batter into each of your greased donut pan wells.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until done.
  7. While the donuts are baking, prepare your salted caramel glaze.
  8. Over medium heat, combine your two sugars with your water in a saucepan.
  9. Allow the sugar to caramelize by boiling it for 8-10 minutes.
  10. Remove the caramelized sugar from the heat, add your cream and stir.
  11. Once it has stopped bubbling, add your butter and stir.
  12. Then add half your sea salt and stir.
  13. Once your donuts are finished baking, allow them to cool, then top with the salted caramel glaze and garnish with an extra sprinkling of sea salt.
