As a mom, I never really get to take a break. However, I try to set aside a few times during the day when I take little “self-care breaks” where I’m not taking care of babies, doing laundry, doing dishes, scheduling house construction, checking emails, etc. I try to get some “me time” in the morning during the babies’ first nap, and I try to get some “me time” in the evening after they’ve gone to bed. Whether you have one kiddo, eight kiddos, no kiddos, a sink full of dishes, or a huge pile of laundry, you should practice some self-care because in today’s world where people brag about being busy, where vacations aren’t taken, and where lunch is often eaten at a desk, we all need to make a little time for ourselves! So, I’m sharing a bit about how I say oui to me time in case you need a little inspo!
After the twins go down for their first nap, I try to eat a relaxing breakfast. I only get about 45 minutes to an hour, but I need that time in the morning to just sit by myself, relax, read a magazine, surf social media, or read the news.
Breakfast usually consists of yogurt and either toast, a bagel, or a croissant. I absolutely loved french-style yogurt when I was living in Paris and when I saw Oui by Yoplait® in those cute little glass pots at the store, I knew I had to try them!
I found Oui at my local Vons store along with my morning croissant and some fresh fruit.Oui by Yoplait is a French-style yogurt inspired by Yoplait’s traditional French recipe.
Oui is made with simple non-GMO ingredients, including whole milk and real fruit, and has no artificial flavors and no colors from artificial sources.
And the adorable glass pots? They aren’t just pretty containers. Oui is poured and left to set in each glass pot for eight hours, during which the culturing process transforms milk into delicious yogurt with a subtly sweet, fresh taste. This is also what creates the unique, thick, creamy, and cuttable texture.
Have you seen the new Oui Petites?
They’re sold in pairs of petite glass pots and they have the same remarkable taste and texture of Oui French-style yogurt, but now with more indulgent flavors including Chocolate with Shavings, Sea Salt Caramel, Dark Chocolate Raspberry, and Caramelized Apple which are perfect for satisfying an afternoon sweet craving. After breakfast, I hit my to-do list with some dishes, laundry, and about a dozen diaper changes!
By the end of the day, I am exhausted. Some nights, I eat popcorn and binge watch my tv shows, but if I’m all caught up on work and I don’t have one of my guilty-pleasure shows to watch, then I try to take a bath. I move all the baby bath seats and toys out of my bathtub and set it up for a relaxing bath including some Lavender Milk Bath Salts that I store in my upcycled Oui glass pots!
Did you know that Oui by Yoplait sells lids for their jars if you want to upcycle them into another use?
They’re just $3.99 plus shipping for a set of 4, and I think the jars make for perfect little bath salt containers that would be perfect for gifting to friends! My DIY lavender milk bath salts are perfect for relaxing after a long day! The epsom salt is great for tired muscles, and the milk is great for your skin. Plus the lavender relaxes you right before bedtime. Click here for the DIY tutorial.
Sometimes running a bath and taking time out just for me seems a little indulgent when I have a to-do list that feels like it’s never-ending, but it’s important to say “Oui” to a simple pleasure!
How do you set aside a little time for some self-care? What are your favorite indulgences? Tell me in a comment below, I’m nosy!
I actually had the same idea but I had a heck of a time removing the label. Did you have some special method for your successful removal?
Hi Megg! I had no trouble at all removing the front label – they just peeled right off in one sticker, but the glue from the lid top was harder.
