Melted Snowman Donuts

Instead of leaving out the traditional cookies and milk for Santa Claus, try making some of these Melted Snowman Donuts! Christmas cookies are a tradition for many families, but if you want to switch things up a bit in the kitchen or you’re looking for new traditions, these holiday donuts are a delicious treat! You can have half a dozen donuts ready to eat in under 30 minutes! They’re very fast and easy to make since they are baked, not fried!

These donuts are made using a hot chocolate mix and I love that the frosting is a marshmallow frosting – perfect for a hot chocolate donut!

And the decorative toppings are simple and easy-to-find. Just marshmallows, pretzels, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and orange jimmies sprinkles

These would be fun to make with the kiddos!  What’s your Santa tradition? Cookies? Donuts? Maybe carrot cake donuts for the reindeer? Let me know in a comment!

Melted Snowman Donuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour, sifted
  • ¾ tsp baking powder
  • 1/3 cup hot chocolate mix (2 packets)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tb butter
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup milk
  • Frosting Ingredients:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2-3 Tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • and ½ cup marshmallow fluff for the Melted Snowman Hot Chocolate donuts
  • Toppings:
  • 3 marshmallows, sliced in half
  • 6 pretzel sticks
  • 6 orange sprinkles
  • 6 mini Reese’s peanut butter cups, cut down to the top 1/3
  • ½ cup marshmallow fluff

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and spray your donut pan with non-stick spray.
Next, cream your butter and sugar by mixing them together with a mixer.
Sift together all of your dry ingredients.
Add the egg, vanilla, and milk to your creamed butter and mix until incorporated.
Slowly add your dry ingredients and fully mix together.
Add ¼ cup of mix to each of your donut pan wells.
Bake 8-10 minutes or until done.
Allow the donuts to sit in the pan for 2-3 minutes before removing to a cooling rack.
As the donuts bake, make your frosting (see recipe below) and after donuts have cooled, put the marshmallow halves on each donuts and cover the donuts with the marshmallow frosting using a spoon. It’s okay if it drips, remember, it’s a melted snowman! Allow the frosting to set, then add a mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup as a hat, break a pretzel stick in half and use as the arms, and add an orange sprinkle for the carrot nose!

    Frosting Instructions:

Mix the ingredients together until fully incorporated.
For the Baked Melted Snowman Hot Chocolate Donuts, fold ½ cup marshmallow fluff into the frosting, after it’s mixed, using a spoon.
