Ojai Rancho Inn Review

Ojai is the perfect place in the California coastal hills to escape to for some relaxation and serenity! The town is small but is considered a culinary destination and is a popular spot for art galleries and new age shops.

The Ojai Rancho Inn, formerly a 1950s roadside motel, has been revived into a low-key, hipster place to stay in town. With its rustic cabin vibes, you can expect a cozy, laid-back stay, almost like a sleepover camp, but for adults!

Why Stay at Ojai Rancho Inn:

Ojai is only an hour-and-a-half drive from Los Angeles, making it the perfect weekend escape! If you are looking for a unique romantic getaway for couples, I suggest you stay in the Ojai Rancho Inn with its artistic vibes and cozy rooms.

It’s a cute retro-style motel and the red-painted wood planks, overgrown palm trees, and jacuzzi tubs make the boutique motel even more magical.

Plus, the motel is within walking (15 minutes) or biking distance (5 minutes) to downtown Ojai where you can find several restaurants and tasting rooms, shops at the Arcade, and many art galleries. Just be sure to take the Ojai Valley Bike Trail located just behind the Ojai Rancho Inn and not the main street.

However, if you’re looking for a relaxing day spent poolside, you can find it at the Ojai Rancho Inn. You can sit by the pool all day, soaking in the Californian sun, and have a drink from their cool poolside bar.

The Rooms at Ojai Rancho Inn

The Ojai Rancho Inn has a total of 17 non-smoking rooms which are quaint, charming, and as peaceful as can be. All the rooms have a log cabin style and come with a flat-screen TV, small fridge, microwave, and snack bar.

The rooms are broadly categorized into 4 types: Standard King, King with Jacuzzi Tub, King with Kitchenette, and Garden Cottage. All the rooms are more than sufficient for two people. Obviously, each features a king-sized bed, but then you’ll just need to decide if you need a Jacuzzi tub, a kitchenette, or a living room.

Drinking and Dining Options at Ojai Rancho Inn:

You can start your day by having a cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea!

The Ojai Rancho Inn also features a wine and beer bar called Chief’s Peak. It opens daily from 4 PM to 10 PM. The bar is cozy, intimate, and laid back making it a pretty cool place for an afternoon drink or nightcap.

Land Acknowledgement

Salty Canary wants to acknowledge that we live, operate, gather, and benefit every day on the traditional stolen lands of several Indigenous peoples and nations including the Tongva (Gabrieleno), Kizh (Gabrieleno), Chumash, Popeloutchom (Amah Mutsun), Ohlone, Awaswas, and Fernandeño Tataviam peoples who have stewarded the lands and waterways throughout their many generations in what is now the state of California.

I wanted to personally acknowledge these Indigenous people and nations and both their commitment and current contributions to the land with a donation to the American Indian College Fund because acknowledgment without action does not begin to address the systemic issues facing Indigenous people. If you feel as though you benefit from the land you’re living on or traveling to and you have the means, I kindly ask that you donate at least $1 to a Native-led organization such as the Native American Rights Fund or the American Indian College Fund

Ojai Rancho Inn is located in Ojai which is on Chumash and Micqanaqa’n land. You can learn more about the Indigenous land you’re living on or traveling to by visiting the Native Lands website.
