Did you see my “Talk Derby To Me” Kentucky Derby Party? If so, you know I’m serving Mint Julep Donuts with wine for the Kentucky Derby because I don’t like an actual Mint Julep drink. Blasphemy, I know. But a Mint Julep donut? So good! I based the donuts on more of a Disneyland Mint Julep with a Kentucky Derby glaze. That means a mint lemon vanilla donut topped with a bourbon glaze. These donuts are perfect for a Kentucky Derby party, a Southern-style brunch, or “just because” on a spring Sunday morning!

Donut:

- granulated sugar
- baking powder
- salt
- egg
- vanilla
- lemonade
- lemon
- butter
- mint extract
Bourbon Glaze:
- powdered sugar
- bourbon
- milk
- vanilla
- salt

Mint Julep Donuts
Ingredients
- Donut:
- 1 cup flour, sifted
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp vanilla
- ⅓ cup lemonade
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 2 Tb butter
- 1 tsp mint extract
- Bourbon Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 T bourbon
- 1 T milk
- ¼ tsp vanilla
- ⅛ tsp salt
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 350 F.
- Next, cream your butter and granulated sugar in your stand mixer and mix on medium-low.
- Then add in 1 beaten egg.
- Next, add your lemonade, lemon juice, vanilla and mint extract.
- Then mix together your flour, baking powder, and salt and slowly add it into the mixture.
- Once everything is incorporated, add ¼ cup of batter to each greased well in your donut pan.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350 F.
- While the donuts bake, whisk together all of the ingredients for the bourbon glaze.
- When the donuts are done baking, let them sit in the donut pan for 1 minute before removing, then allow them to cool.
- Once cool, drizzle with the bourbon glaze and garnish with a sprig of mint.
If you’re serving these for a Kentucky Derby party, go ahead and stick a race horse on top!
