Ok, this might be my favorite part of city: Coney Island! A permanent fair? Yes, please!I wish I could jump in a time machine and see Coney Island back in the day when people were wearing funny bathing suits and the rides could probably kill you. Well, even now the people watching is pretty amazing and the roller coaster Cyclone could probably still kill you. Did you know that it used to really be an island? But then it became partially connected … by trash. Yup, a landfill connected Coney Island to the mainland. Why am I not surprised. Also, did you know that in the 1840’s when they started building on Coney Island there was an outcry and people wanted to preserve it as a natural park? Thank god that didn’t happen!
We jumped on the Q and rode it to the end of the line. Everyone on the train was going to the beach. But not us. No, we were going to play some Roll-a-Ball, ride a roller coaster, and eat a Nathan’s hot dog! Get ready for an obscene amount of photos!
And after we had our fill, we jumped back on the Q and went back to Brooklyn and walked around. I don’t recommend Coney Island on a Saturday, but Brooklyn on a Saturday is fun and there’s the Brooklyn Flea Market which is WAY overpriced, but fun to look around. Also, if I lived in Brooklyn, I’d have a pink door, too!
